This past weekend Super Smash Con 2019 was held at Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, VA, and the biggest fans and top players from around the world came to enjoy the popular Nintendo series. Super Smash Con 2019 included panels, arcade play, contests, and world class competition on many platforms, with a record 3,600 entrants. Knowing the reach this event would have toward the Nintendo community, we followed and tracked the social highlights of this weekend event.
Over the weekend convention, there were over 17,000 users engaged in conversation on Twitter about the event, with a total of 189.5K engagements, equating to a social engagement value of $174.2K. Beyond the engagements, there was 71.2 million impressions of the event, which measured at $374.0K in social impression value.
Among the top competition this week, Echo Fox’s Mkleo took home the Ultimate championship. When tracking the social activity of Leo, he was at the top of the most discussed and top valued players. There were over 4 million projected impressions for activity around Leo, which equated to a social impression value of $22,088.
Among the rest of the field, TSM’s Leffen won the melee singles and Kysk won the N64 singles competition and combo contest. On Twitter, Leffen had over 2.7 million impressions on Twitter, which was equated to a social impression value of $14,122. Kysk’s victory came early in the weekend, but he was still able to garner over 2.5 million impressions and a social impression value of $13,228. Additionally, overall Kysk had the most mentions of any player in the competition field, with over 11% of post in our feed mentioning @ssb64kysk.
