15 Sep Meet the Team: James Ho, VP, Solutions and Strategy
At Zoomph, we know that innovation starts with people. That’s why we’re proud to spotlight the talented minds that help define our mission and support your goals. Our “Meet the Team” Q&A series offers a behind-the-scenes look at the people driving our success, highlighting their skills, insights, and unique perspectives. Get to know the people that shape our culture and power Zoomph.
Tell us about your background and what led you to Zoomph:
I was born and raised in Northern Virginia, and still live there today. I attended George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
Zoomph is the only place I’ve worked since graduating from GMU. I got my start in the sports industry via an internship with what is now the Washington Commanders on the news/digital team. A fun fact, I actually got to tweet a few times from the team’s official handle!
Tell us about your role at Zoomph:
Over the years at Zoomph, my role has evolved, but my core mission has remained the same: to help our customers succeed. In my current role, I lead the solutions and sales engineering team, which means I get to be on the front lines, helping our customers understand the value of our products. What I love most is the chance to interact with people and show them the products and services we’ve helped build to solve their needs.
What is your favorite part about working at Zoomph?
Without a doubt, the people. I’ve always said that even if Zoomph’s products were completely different, I’d still love working here because of the incredible team. Everyone is hard-working, passionate, friendly, and truly mission-driven.
I’ve worked here quite a while, so it’s difficult to narrow this down, but 2 things come to mind:
First is how our team navigated the pandemic. It was obviously a challenging time, but we took the opportunity to reposition ourselves and provide new measurement solutions for sponsorships. We also successfully transitioned to a fully remote team and haven’t looked back since. This period was a true turning point for Zoomph, and I’m incredibly proud of how we adapted and thrived.
On a more personal note, I’m very proud of my journey at Zoomph. It’s rare for someone to spend over a decade at one company in this generation, especially building it from the ground up. I’ve been here since I graduated from college and have pushed through all the ups and downs. Sticking with my core values of loving what I do and being passionate about my work has made the entire experience incredibly rewarding.
What is your favorite product function or tip you can share about Zoomph’s platform?
It’s nearly impossible to pick a single feature, and that’s by design. The real value we create for our customers is that every single feature is built directly from their feedback. We don’t just create products in a vacuum; we center our entire product around solving the specific challenges our customers face every day.
What is your favorite thing about living in the DMV?
My favorite thing about the DMV is that it truly has a bit of everything. The area is incredibly diverse, both culturally and geographically. You can find whatever you’re looking for, and you’re always just a 30-minute drive from whatever you want to do.
What are some of your favorite hobbies?
I’m what you might call a “golf sicko”—completely obsessed with the game. I love everything about it: the competition, the gear, the travel, and being out in nature. Most of my free time is spent doing something golf-related; I can never get enough.
I also used to coach high-school lacrosse in college, and before I joined Zoomph. Coaching was truly one of the most fun and rewarding experiences of my life. It really taught a lot about leadership, teaching, passion, and dedication.
Fun fact: my very first lacrosse coach helped connect me to Zoomph, and one of the players I coached is now a professional in the PLL, which happens to be a long-time Zoomph partner! I truly owe a lot to the sport.
What is one of the most memorable sporting events you’ve attended?
Thanks for the work perk of Zoomph, being at MSG the night Steph Curry broke the all-time 3-point record. The atmosphere was the most electric I’ve ever experienced at a sporting event. I’ll forever be grateful to former Zoompher, Andrew Descovich, for making it happen!
