Ahead of the 2024 college football season the NCAA reveresed a longheld position and “approved allowing commercial sponsor advertisements on football fields for regular-season games.” With college athletic departments looking for additional revenue streams to support their programs and players in the NIL era, this ruling gave college football teams a valuable new asset to sell to partners.
In 2025, the second season of the asset, 57% of FBS teams (75 total) took advantage of this opportunity. As of the end of the regular season, these FBS college football teams featured a sponsor on their field.
The Southeastern Conference, arguably the highest profile conference in all of college football, has the highest percentage of teams with an on-field sponsor. 87.5% of teams had one signed before the end of the 2025 season, leaving just Texas A&M and Mississippi State without one.
