The Portuguese Futbol Federation (FPF) is the entity responsible for the coordination, promotion, and development for all-things-futbol in Portugal. This ranges from grassroots development to the highest level of competition: the country’s National team. Their main objective is to continuously grow the game of soccer across the continent. In order to help enhance fan-based engagement through campaigns during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the FPF partnered with Zoomph.
They knew from previous experience, they were going to need help, especially with the intensity of this event and the rise of fandom for the team in recent years. The 2018 fan club app launch during the FIFA World Cup, created a need for the FPF to be able to respond quickly to contests and fan engagement activities prior and during each match for the team.
Through Zoomph’s platform, they were able to quickly launch different campaigns where fans could participate and win prizes like unique experiences. They were able to collect valuable data, improve segmentation of the fan base, and overall more authentic results. The FPF strives on developing and maintaining a close relationship with its fan base, and Zoomph’s campaigns allowed the organization to respond instantly to their audience before each match.
The FPF attributed the biggest improvement and cost savings to the limited time it took building campaigns and what they’ve been able to do with this extra bandwidth. Since the campaigns were already built for them, they had the freedom to focus on specific customizations to the data gathering process, and then it was straight to launch.
The insight these campaigns were able to provide allowed the FPF to better understand their fans, and improve how they engaged with them.
Not having to build the campaign from scratch allows them to focus on the strategic details of the campaign, while avoiding extra manual lifting. In the end, the FPF and Zoomph have been able to bring fans closer to the beautiful game, and to the Portuguese National Team.
