Social Listening 101 from a Community Manager

Community Managers.

Some may think we sit behind a laptop, posting Facebook statuses, but no. We eat, sleep and breathe social. We attend to and engage with their online communities and generate great content for our audiences. We keep the brands we work for, going, every day! But, although it may seem like we can’t work 24/7, 365 (even though we’ve tried many times!) Cue, social listening tools. They help manage our time better and bring insightful community and social media metrics right to our finger tips. But, how do you choose the right tool for your brand?

Zoomph is an amazing tool that we commonly refer to as a Swiss Army Knife. It embodies social media listening, analytics tools and the ability to create visuals powered by user-generated content. Not to eat my own dog food here, but Zoomph should be everyone’s one stop-shop for social media listening. The platform has features ranging from must-have to “There’s a tool that can ACTUALLY track that stuff?!” and I’m here to break it all down for you.

Time of Day Breakdown

Speaking of breaking it down, this feature comes in handy when you want to know when to post for your brand to receive the most engagement from your community. I recommend tracking mentions of a topic or hashtag related to your content (i.e. #InfluencerMarketing) and using our Time of Day Breakdown feature to see when that audience is most active around #InfluencerMarketing. You can then mirror those times to post or schedule your content!

Publishing

You asked- Zoomph delivered! Many of our clients wanted the ability to publish content in our platform along with social listening and the ability to create visuals. One of our newest features gives users the ability to post from any page on our platform. You’ll never know when you’ll find a new trending topic within your feeds! You asked- Zoomph delivered! Top Biography Words

Another new feature of Zoomph is Top Biography Words. This feature tells you your audience personas and the type of users that are engaging with your brand. If you click on a word from the word cloud, you can see how many times that word was used across your audiences’ bios via Moderation.

Get more context on how your audiences prefer to describe themselves on social media through their bios.  Are there more ‘Mommy Bloggers’ who follow you or YouTube Influencers or just good ole’ Washington Redskins die-hard fans? Our Twitter Bio word cloud gives you complete information on the top words that show up in your audiences bios (specific to a feed). Use this data to discover the personas behind your social posts.

Notify

Notify is a great example of how Zoomph has evolved into a one-stop shop. Through the Moderation and Influencer pages, you are able to engage with members of your audience without having to leave our platform. Pretty awesome, right? Imagine searching through your Zoomph feed and finding something that your community posted that’s gaining a lot of attention. You could tweet or comment on that Instagram post in real-time with the help of our Notify feature!

Influencer List

One of my personal favorite is Zoomph’s Influencer list. It’s so powerful when creating Twitter, Instagram or Facebook ads to know who is the most influential and who to target. The great thing about this Influencer list is it’s contextual to that topic. Our proprietary algorithm called ZPoints, ranks each piece of content as it comes into our platform. The more retweets, likes, comments, or shares that a piece of content gets, the ZPoint score rises. Thus, the more ZPoints you receive on each post, the higher you will find your handle on Zoomph’s Influencer list.

**If you are using our Influencer list for social media ads, make sure to double check the content that your Influencers post to double check that it is positive content :)**

Comparison

Have you ever wanted to compare yourself to your competitors without having to do all of the heavy work? What are you waiting for?! Zoomph’s Comparison feature is a seamless way to compare all of the important metrics for your brand to your biggest competition. Keep an eye on their every move without skipping a beat or letting them know.persons-0006 Another great way to utilize this tool is to compare the same social media campaign to itself. See how the males stack up against the females or see how the different demographics go head-to-head.
