NYRR: Running to the Big Screens

This weekend, the streets of New York will be filled not with bumper-to-bumper traffic, but with intrepid participants of the most famous race in the country: the ING New York City Marathon. On Sunday, 50,000 residents of the city that never sleeps will have a morning with no rest—and Zoomph will be there to commemorate it every tired step of the way.

Hosted in part by New York Road Runners, the world’s premier community running organization, the Marathon is one of New York’s landmark annual events. This year, to heighten the social experience, New York Road Runners is hosting a Zoomph Social Hub on their website. On the Hub, all social media conversations surrounding the event—inspirational Tweets from friends of runners, Instagram photos of eager participants, and other motivational content—is collected into one dynamic visualization.

But that’s not all. Nine Zoomph event displays will be streaming inspiring social media content throughout the racecourse and at the finish line. These social media displays will drive increased engagement with the event, promoting NYRR’s and the marathon’s hashtags and fostering conversations, letting the runners know how many people are thinking about them.

If you happen to be in New York this weekend, cheer on the impressive runners and check out Zoomph’s beautiful live displays. And wherever you’re located, you can use the hashtag #INGNYCM to send messages and pictures to the participants. There’s no telling how good an inspirational message would feel in the midst of a 26.2 mile victory lap.
